A fresh canvas

At Home With The Rudds is a new luxury homeware brand based in the Cotswold, started by artist Samantha Rudd. I worked with the company from the launch to create a full brand design covering the website, products, packaging and the physical spaces. Joining  the start-up gave me an entirely blank slate. The priority was to create a recognisable brand. On day one we created the logo, working around Samantha’s sketches. From there we worked on colour palettes, fonts and photography.

Brand style

Samantha had a clear idea of her artistic output, drawings and paintings that reflected a “simpler time”, produced with traditional techniques. We looked at letterpress type, vintage photography and found earthy tones which she used in her paintings. The website changed with the season, we adapted tones and images to reflect the changes the autumn to winter.

At Home With The Rudds is a brand that reflected Samantha’s lifestyle, a beautiful house in a small Cotswold village with an art studio in the garden. This base was the setting, an in-between of studio and lifestyle setup for the product photography. I captured this all in a documentary style, using visual storytelling to showcase the brand’s narrative.

Building a full e-commerce experience

I used Webflow to build a custom Shopify theme. This allowed us access Shopify’s POS with the ability to fine tune the website in Webflow, and be able to fully design all of the brand elements. I developed navigations across desktop and mobile with custom animations to allow large menus with multiple categories and sub-categories. Working on the design of physical shops, online shops and products simultaneously allowed us design an experience that felt unique to the brand.
